THE SITUATION
Nobody briefed this one.
No client, no budget, no approval round. We made it because the idea was good and we wanted to see if it would travel.
It travelled further in thirty days than campaigns with real money behind them managed in a quarter.
WHAT WE DID
01
Make the thing, do not pitch the thing
The whole series existed before anyone outside the room saw a frame. No deck survives contact with a joke, so we skipped the deck.
02
Local, specific, unexplained
We did not soften it for a wider audience. The specificity is what made people send it to each other.
03
Let the audience distribute it
Zero paid promotion. Every view came from a share, which is also why the numbers held up after the first week.
WHAT IT PROVES
IF IT NEEDS A MEDIA BUDGET TO TRAVEL, IT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Paid distribution is an accelerant, not an engine. Test the idea organically first and you find out what you actually have.
